Voters will learn learn Austin Theriault is focused on the issues that matter most to regular Mainers. Lowering costs like electricity and groceries. Protecting Medicare and Social Security. Supporting the lobstermen. Austin will stand up to extremists in Congress and bring balance to Washington.

Important Notes:

Voters in Maine need to know that Jared Golden says one thing in Maine and does another in Washington.

Voters already know that Jared Golden is a reliable vote for Democrats, and it doesn’t change their mind about who to vote for. Instead, voters need to hear that Jared Golden has changed since he went to Washington. That he’s not who said he’d be. Maine can’t trust him anymore.

Jared Golden said he was a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, but he went back on his word, and now Golden wants to take away the Second Amendment rights of Maine gun owners.

The details of the specific policies Golden flipped on regarding the 2nd Amendment are not important. What matters is the credible news coverage of Golden’s flip on the second amendment which is helpful for voters to know in combination with some of his other flip flops on major issues that hurt Mainers to demonstrate a pattern of saying one thing and doing another:

  1. Jared Golden says he supports Maine’s lobstermen, but in Washington, Golden accepted thousands from an anti-lobster group and he voted multiple times to strengthen the regulatory agency cracking down on lobstermen.
  2. Jared Golden says we must secure the border, but in Washington, Golden has repeatedly voted against building the border wall, against ending catch and release, against hiring more border agents and he voted to give amnesty to millions.
  3. Jared Golden says he is against increasing the debt, but Golden voted for Joe Biden’s so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” that did not reduce inflation and spent over one trillion dollars.

Austin Theriault will seek to lower the cost of living for Maine by focusing on lowering energy costs, fighting inflation and bringing in more affordable home heating oil.

  • “Theriault said the U.S. should utilize diverse energy sources, citing natural gas, nuclear and hydropower. He argued that subsidies for solar power and limiting the use of other energy sources will hurt the economy and businesses in Maine.” MAINE MORNING STAR.
  • “Theriault’s bill that became law seeks to increase Maine’s use of wood waste — like scrap, sawdust and paper mill residue — for energy production, a priority of some in his timber-heavy district.” MAINE MORNING STAR.
  • “When asked what he believes is the top issue facing Mainers in CD2, Theriault said that he thinks it is inflation and the Biden administration’s “total disregard for fiscal restraint.” MAINE WIRE.
  • “Theriault slammed Golden for going along with President Biden’s spending on legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act, saying it has been a primary driver of inflation and hurts Maine’s middle class.” MAINE WIRE.
  • “The two candidates running to represent Jandro and Park in the Maine House of Representatives said the price of oil is one of the major problems cited by voters. Former NASCAR driver Austin Theriault, a Republican from Fort Kent, said some he has spoken to have had electricity bills double on top of the fuel increases. He hoped lawmakers would work in a bipartisan fashion on the issue next year. “Clean energy approaches should be in the mix, but financially sustainable over the long-run, as well as not put undue strain on families and those on a fixed income, who out of all, feel the strain out of touch energy policies create for working families,” he said in an email.” BANGOR DAILY NEWS.

Austin Theriault opposes Biden’s mandate to produce more electric vehicles because he knows those vehicles are impractical for Maine.

Austin Theriault, R-Fort Kent…”We’re certainly not like California, we have a much lower size GDP than California, our average household income is much lower,” said Rep. Theriault.” FOX 22 BANGOR.
  • “There’s a proposal to mandate that almost every vehicle sold in Maine be electric in the coming years. That’s obviously ridiculous. Thankfully, Austin Theriault (a state representative and congressional candidate) is fighting tooth and nail against this scheme. He knows it would hurt Mainers — electric vehicles are more expensive than gas vehicles, and who can afford to buy a new car right now, anyway?” LEWISTON SUN JOURNAL.

Austin Theriault wants to protect Social Security and Medicare from the politicians who seek to change them.

  • “Austin Theriault vows to buck Republicans if they back Social Security and Medicare cuts.” BANGOR DAILY NEWS.
